1 Simple Way To Tell If Your Snowboard Turning Technique Sucks

One of the biggest problems that many of us face when learning to snowboard is poor turning technique. To improve our turning technique, we first have to know how to tell when it’s wrong… so here’s how to do just that.

How to tell when you’re turning technique is wrong

It’s simple, where is the snow going when you turn? When you turn, you push snow away from your snowboard. When your turning is on form, you’ll be pushing snow sideways. When it’s not, you’ll be pushing snow downhill.

What’s the difference between good and bad turns?

In the above examples you can see that when you push snow downhill, you’re skidding downhill in order to turn. When you turn correctly like in the first example, you should be pushing snow sideways as you use your snowboard’s edge into the turn.

Hope this helps you with your turning!
