Our Free Snowboard Gear Guide:

An Important But Forgotten Piece Of Snowboard Gear – The Lock

Today’s blog is simple: Lock. Your. Snowboard.

Snowboards are one of the easiest things to steal, but most people never lock their snowboard. Google ‘stolen snowboard’ and see thousands upon thousands of people trying to find their stolen snowboards. It happens a lot.

Major resorts are huge centres for snowboard theft and once it’s been stolen, you’ll never be able to track it down. Good luck finding your snowboard among the huge amount of visitors on any given day.

The Simple Fix

Dakine Snowboard Lock

Buy a snowboard lock. They don’t cost much, maybe $15 at your local snowboard shop. It’s the same as a few cups of coffee at Starbucks, and you spent waay more money on your snowboard kit.

But my friend said you can still cut through snowboard locks…

Your friend is right, but no thief is going to target a snowboard that’s locked when there’s 100 other unlocked snowboards sitting next to it. That’s why you need to lock your snowboard when you leave it outside. It’s a preventative measure.

Thieves target easy steals. They want the quick and simple grab and go, rather than targeting a locked snowboard and cutting the lock off.

So if you don’t already own a lock, do yourself a favour and go buy one.

ps – I recommend you toss the lock into your snowboard pants/jacket pocket. That way when you go snowboarding you don’t accidentally leave it at home.
