Today’s reader question:
Any particular headphones you recommend for listening to music while snowboarding?
This is simple, get the cheapest headphones you can find :p Those cheapy $20 ones are ideal for listening to music while snowboarding.
Don’t go out and buy anything fancy because you’ll end up breaking them. Also, you don’t need Skullcandy headphones, even if everyone else seems to like riding with them.
You are going to fall and you definitely don’t want pricy headphones on your head when you’re falling into wet snow. That’s just asking to throw away a bunch of your money.
Even if you don’t fall, you’d be worrying about falling and it’s not fun having to ride extra careful to protect your headphones.
What I use right now:
Honestly, I don’t even use headphones much because you can’t wear them properly with a helmet, plus they don’t stay in place very well if you start doing tricks and getting some air.
I’d recommend a good pair of earbuds over headphones when it comes to snowboarding with music. They stay in place better, they don’t break as easily, and you can wear them under a helmet.
Hope that answers your question!

Or you can just buy a helmet with built in ear buds.
I had a pair of those and they broke
Hi Jed, in-ear buds with silicone pads are the solution, if you don’t hate them of course. But they should have a strong, frost-resistant or better detachable cord. Earbuds from Shure have perfect sound and removable cable, but they’re extremely expensive, it’s senseless to use such high-end tech on the slope.
Kicker earbuds are quite good, have kevlar-reinforced cable and cost under $40, so you won’t cry when you finally break or loose them.
Oh good point, I should have mentioned that.
Yeah the in-ear buds I’ve found to be better too. They’ll stay in your ear and are more comfortable throughout the days.
