NZ Ski Trips – 6 Things To Do In Queenstown/Wanaka

NZ is one of the most popular ski/snowboard destinations in the world, and the south island, specifically Queenstown and Wanaka is usually the destination that everyone picks.

I’ve spent my last 4 winters down in Wanaka/Queenstown, so here’s a few things that should definitely be serious considerations for your ‘to-do’ list.

1) Sky Diving

If you’ve ever wanted to try sky diving, this is the place to do it. It’s literally the most amazing beautiful place in the world to sky dive. Picture yourself surrounded by nothing but clear lakes and snow capped mountains. This is where Lord of the Rings was filmed after all ;)

2) Ferg Burger

Possibly the most delicious burger you’ll ever eat. They’re the local’s favourite and a must visit destination for anyone in Queenstown. Ask anyone in town about Ferg Burger and you’ll hear nothing but good things.

Be prepared to line up during peak hour though, it gets busy!

3) Nevis Bungy

8.5 seconds of freefall and a 134 m drop. It’s one of the highest bungy platforms in the world and one of the most popular activities in Queenstown.

4) Onsen Hot Pools

Amazing woden hot tubs which open up to amazing views and scenery. One of my favourite activities after a long day on the slopes.

5) Skyline Luge

Take the Skyline Cable Car from the middle of Queenstown up to the lookout restaurant and luge track. Not only do you get amazing views of Queenstown, but the downhill luge is some of the most fun you can have with a group of friends.

6) Milford Sound

If New Zealand is the most beautiful country, then Milford Sound is the most beautiful part of the most beautiful country in the world. Waterfalls, cliffs, wide open clear lakes. It’s basically amazing scenery surrounded by more amazing scenery.

It’s not actually in Queenstown or Wanaka, which is why I included it last, but it’s definitely worth the 4 hours trip down to Milford Sound and there’s plenty of tour companies that provide transport and guides.
