Today’s reader question:
How often should I wash my snowboard clothes? I’ve had my jacket and pants for a season and it kind of smells, but I don’t want to wash them too often and ruin them.
I’d say you should wash about once per season, usually at the end of the season. You can go longer without washing, but personally I think the smell starts to get quite noticeable after a full season on the slopes.
I do know friends who wash about 2-3 times per season and that works too… I’m just lazy and can’t be bothered to wash my outerwear more than once per season
Honestly though, there’s a lot of sweat and nasty stuff that accumulates inside your outerwear over the course of a season, so try to at least wash it at the end of the season.
Can you wash your snowboard clothing too often?
No, you can’t ruin it by washing too often, unless you’re literally washing it every day until the seams and stitching start coming undone, but that can be said about washing any clothing.
However, one important note is you do need to be washing with a waterproof repair/maintaining liquid such as Nikwax to ensure you keep your clothing waterproofing each time you wash.

Here’s a more detailed guide on how to use Nikwax to wash your outerwear properly:
Hope this answers your question!
