Dear Companies: Stop Using Confusing Names For Your Camber

By Jedidiah Tan | Follow Him on Twitter

Stupid gear names

Your names are in the way of customers having a clue what you're talking about.

Dear companies: Stop using confusing names for your camber. It’s getting harder and harder to explain different board tech specs to customers when you start using random names for each of your rockers, not to mention the rest of your crazy tech names.

It’s stupid and it confuses customers and half the people I explain rockers to get lost when I start using your ridiculous names. Why confuse customers even more when the typical snowboard/ski buyer already has to worry about all sorts of factors, such as size and flex.

Customers just want results, not your fancy names. Most aren’t super knowledgeable snowboard experts.

Companies are forgetting the number one rule about selling

Customers are ‘buying’ a result. They don’t care that your new feature is named after the new nissan prototype car. Customers just want to quickly and easily know what a feature does. Calling it ridiculous techy names just confuses customers even more.

Your feature names are an obstacle in the way of a customer who just wants to know what each feature does. You’re meant to be making these obstacle as small as possible, not making it bigger and more confusing.

Why can’t you all take a page from K2’s naming method and use more simplistic names for your rocker. No need for ‘Power ZV’ or ‘Highsleek Rain Power Thrust’.  I don’t know if you’re trying to confuse customers, then win them over with your little marketing description telling them how your rocker saves the world, but it’s not working and just making things confusing.

Seriously, cut that crap out.
