In my previous post ‘5 Tips To Prevent Injuries‘, I missed a really key tip for preventing injury. Eating right. You’ll not only have more energy, but it also helps you ride better, faster and stronger.
Everyone knows that eating right and drinking water is important, but not everyone wants to eat salad or has time and knowledge to cook meals and bring them up to the mountain with them.
So here’s some very simple tips to eat better while on the hill.
So how do you eat right without bringing your own food?
Firstly, take a lot of breaks for water. You need 8 glasses of water a day, and many of us (myself included) often forget to take drink breaks while on the mountain.
What you shouldn’t eat on the mountain
- Hot Dogs
What you should eat
- Burritos (easy on the sauce)
- Rice dishes
- Muesli Bars
- Salad & fruits (if you like salad… I don’t ;))
So for example, on Blackcomb Mountain at Whistler Blackcomb, you’d stay away from the Angus Burger with Fries and instead eat the Pulled Pork Wrap. Still delicious and it’s not as oily and greasy as a burger.
That’s it! Simple and easy. Happy shredding!
