Snowboarding is a fairly new sport. Veteran’s and founders of the sport are still alive and many of the older generation can remember when snowboarding was still banned at most resorts. These days, snowboarding is the most popular event of the Winter Olympics and one of the fastest growing sports in the world.
A lot has changed in a short period of time.
That’s why I think any snowboard addict should know a little bit about our roots. You could do your own research and piece together some backstory from old magazines, but here’s a much more enjoyable way of doing it. Read this book:

“P3: Parks, Pipes, Powder” By Todd Richards & Eric Blehm
P3 takes you through the life of Todd Richards, a pro snowboarder who’s been around since the sports infancy. In short, he grew up as a pro snowboarder while snowboarding itself was growing up and he was present at some pretty significant events, such as the first time halfpipe was added to the Winter Olympics.
It’s not just about his life, although his life story is highly amusing at times, but also snowboarding and how the sport grew and changed over the years.
If you love snowboarding, you’ll both enjoy this book and learn a little history at the same time.
