It’s been a weird week. I was just getting excited over record traffic at Snomie.com and the release of our eBook when I got some bad news. A pro shredder friend of mine in Whistler has just passed away.
He’s not the first and unfortunately, he may not be the last to go early. It got me thinking, why do we do what we do? What exactly is it that makes us look at a big icy jump and think ‘Yeah, I should fly off that on a plank of wood.’ or ‘Yeah, going upside down off a piece of ice sounds like a good idea.’
We know the consequences of failure and even if we get it right 99 times out of 100, we know that that there’s that tiny chance that something will go wrong and we’ll end up injured or worse. We’re used to hearing about the occasional death or paralysis a couple times a season, but we still go out and do it.
Why?
Because we’re doing what we love. Do what you love, and do it often.
R.I.P. Jon, I’ll miss you buddy.
