I think I'm going to keep adding random photos whenever I have no idea what photo to use for the blog topic.
We’re all different people with different personalities, but you do start to notice that certain personalities are more common among skiers and snowboarders.
1) Stubbornness
Progressing your snowboarding involves falling… a lot. You have to be a little stubborn to keep getting back up and trying it again.
After all, how many times did you fall trying to learn to snowboard? When I ask non-snowboarders/skiers why they don’t like it, the most common response is that they fell a lot and it was hard. I think all of us have to be a little bit stubborn to get past the learning curve, especially when you’re just starting out.
I don’t think the stubbornness ends as we become more experienced either. The common expression after all is ‘if you’re not falling, you’re not progressing’.
2) Insanity
We’re sending ourselves off icy jumps on planks of wood. We’re dropping off 40 foot cliffs. We’re jumping onto handrails. Is there any really any doubt that you have to be a tiny bit crazy to do these things?
I like to look at it as a good crazy though. Snowboarders and skiers are the type of people who enjoy a little fun and excitement. We’re the type of people who recognize that it’s good to scare ourselves once in awhile.
Safe and boring has it’s time and place, but there’s more to life then choosing the safe option every time.
Stubborn, insane and really, really laid back.
Snowboarders and skiers are some of the most relaxed, fun and chilled out people that I’ve met. I think the sport attracts the type of person that just enjoys having fun and hanging out with friends.
I like to think that perhaps most of us have realized that there’s more to life then working a 9 to 5 job. We like a simple life where it’s just us, the ski slopes, our friends and lots of good times.
Are you a little stubborn and insane?
