How To Store A Snowboard – 3 Simple Steps To Avoid Ruining Your Snowboard

By Jedidiah Tan | Follow Him on Twitter

Storing a snowboard

When you’re storing your snowboard for long periods of time, there are a few things you should do to properly prepare it for storage.

1) Leave a coating of wax on the base

Drip wax over your snowboard base like a normal wax job, except don’t scrape it off. You need to leave a layer of wax on your base to make sure the base doesn’t dry out while in storage.

Why do this?

As I’ve mentioned in previous waxing tutorials, your base absorbs wax. Leaving a base dry for long periods of time can harm the base and actually decrease the amount of wax it can absorb. In simple speak, this means a dried out base makes your snowboard permanently slower.

2) Clean your edges

Take your scraper and get rid of any wax covering the metal edges of your snowboard. Now take some WD-40 and a rag cloth and wipe your edges. This ensures they stay nice and clean while in storage.

Why do this?

You don’t want your edges rusting while in storage.

3) Loosen the bindings

Take your screwdriver and loosen the screws that attach your bindings to your snowboard.

Why do this?

You may notice that you can feel slight indents in your base where your screws hold your bindings in. This is natural and happens over time, but there’s no reason to make the indents any worse then they need to be.

That’s it! Short and simple today 😉
